Snowood Dalmatians
EST 1982
"Snowood" is our kennel name - It is the name that is
used to identify
Dalmatians of our breeding. A kennel name is like a trademark and one that we
are proud to have. We are breeding for better Dalmatians and thoroughly enjoy
our dogs. They are our family.
Our
breeding program is conducted on a small scale using only selected dogs of
outstanding quality and disposition, who have health clearances in many areas.
We keep, and breed, only the best and do not maintain a kennel. Dalmatians do
best when kept as house pets. Puppies develop much better when they receive the
extra attention that a house-raised litter receives. The care and attention
that a puppy receives during the first six to eight weeks of its life are
crucial. It greatly affects the puppy's future health, temperament, and
trainability.
Our
stock represents a combination of some of the finest lines of Dalmatians in the
country. Each line and each dog was introduced because it excelled in one or
more features we wished to incorporate into our breeding program. Our brood
bitches are top-quality, well-bred, healthy dogs. They are bred to dogs we feel
to be the most complementary in physical and mental characteristics and the
most likely to produce the right combination of qualities.
Snowood Dalmatians are found mainly in the Midwest, although we do
have show dogs and pets in homes throughout the United States and Canada. These
dogs have won, not only for us, but for their new owners, at Dalmatian
Specialties and All-Breed Shows. At all breed shows our dogs have gone Best of
Breed many times, won Multi Group Firsts, Group Placements, and have gone Best
in Show. At Dalmatian Specialties, Snowood dogs have won everything from Best
in Sweepstakes to Best of Breed. We currently have bred over 75 homebred AKC
Champions as well as numerous CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) Champions, obedience,
tracking and agility titled dogs.
Our
pups are fully guaranteed and properly socialized. Although we breed for show
dogs, we are also very proud of our pets. Most Dalmatians, including show dogs,
live in homes with families where good temperaments are a necessity.Temperament
is a very important part of a breeding plan.
Our
pups are sold with their first shots, are healthy and well adjusted. Pups are
carefully observed and are temperament tested to enable us to help place the
right pup in the right home. Pups leave with a written contract, several days
supply of puppy food, either the book "Superpuppy" or "How to raise a puppy you
can live with" or "The Urban Puppy", and any other materials that we feel will
be of use. Our interest does not end with the sale of a puppy. We are ALWAYS
available for advice. We also like to hear how the puppy is fitting in with its
new family and we love pictures!
We
occasionally have older dogs available. They are through with their show
careers and deserve a place with a special family that they don't have to share
with all our other dogs!.
