The Canine Health Information Center, also known as CHIC, is a centralized canine health database jointly sponsored by the AKC/Canine Health Foundation (AKC/CHF) and the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA). The CHIC, working with participating parent clubs, provides a resource for breeders and owners of purebred dogs to research and maintain information on the health issues prevalent in specific breeds.
We health test our dogs so that we know we are starting with healthy parents. Eventually every dog or person or living thing is going to get old or diseased or sick but we try to make sure that it is later in life and not sooner. By health testing we are stacking the deck in our favor. It doesn't always work but we try our best
Our puppies receive their first shots, are wormed and provided medical treatment as necessary while they are in our care. We hearing test them at 6 weeks of age and they get a general physical at that time.
